The Mongolian Stock Exchange JSC (MSE), in collaboration with London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) and the Mongolian Central Securities Depository (MCSD), announced the launch of the joint programme “Mongolian Capital Market 2.0: Roadmap for Technology, Infrastructure and Dual Listings.”

The event was attended by Mr. D. Munkhbat, Chief Executive Officer of the Mongolian Stock Exchange (MSE); Mr. Ch. Tavinjil, Chief Executive Officer of the Mongolian Central Securities Depository (MCSD); Ms. Ayuna Nechaeva, Director and Head of Europe, Primary Markets, London Stock Exchange; Mr. Chris McGahan, Head of Western Europe and Nordics, Primary Markets, London Stock Exchange; and senior representatives of LSEG Markets Technology, including Ms. Sabiha Nanji and Ms. Madhuka Karunaratne, Pre-Sales Lead.

Mongolia’s capital market has developed rapidly in recent years. Over the past six years, total market capitalisation has increased approximately fivefold, while average daily trading value has grown approximately 25 times. Trading activity and investor participation have strengthened, alongside significant progress towards deeper integration with international capital markets.
Key milestones include Mongolia’s formal inclusion in FTSE Russell’s Frontier Market classification, the first inclusion of a company listed on MSE in a FTSE Russell Frontier index, and ongoing initiatives by MSE-listed companies to pursue dual listings on international exchanges. These developments represent important steps towards increasing the international visibility of Mongolia’s capital market and broadening participation by global investors.

The joint programme will focus on two main areas:
Technology and market infrastructure modernisation: modernising securities trading, market surveillance, settlement and depository services, and other core market infrastructure to strengthen the reliability, resilience and efficiency of Mongolia’s capital market; and
Dual listings and international market access: supporting leading Mongolian companies in accessing financing through both domestic and international capital markets and expanding opportunities for dual listings.

The “Mongolian Capital Market 2.0” programme is intended to lay the foundation for the next stage of Mongolia’s capital market development. It will provide a long-term cooperation roadmap that brings together technology modernisation, international market integration, dual listings and increased investment flows within a single strategic framework.
